ID.me Employee Spotlight Series: Anna Shevchenko, Senior IT Operations & Engineering Manager

What initially attracted you to ID.me or this role?

Two things caught my attention immediately.

First: not every company can claim a mission this meaningful. Digital identity is fundamentally broken — trusted logins aren’t portable, and portable logins aren’t trusted. After years in IT, I’d seen what that looks like up close — and I knew exactly how hard the fix is. ID.me is going after the root cause, at scale. The chance to contribute to something with real-world stakes — protecting people’s identities and access to services they’ve earned — was immediately compelling.

Second: no identity left behind. This piece of the equation mattered a lot to me, and I pushed hard on it during interviews. Honest people shouldn’t have to struggle for access to what they’re entitled to just because fraudsters are after the same things. The process should stop fraud without making it hard on everyone else. The answers were considered, specific, and backed by genuine conviction. Two years in, I’m still seeing it. Everything is built with accessibility and a frictionless experience in mind, for the people who need it most.

What do you enjoy most about working at ID.me?

When I came on board, I wondered — will the values hold up? Do people actually live what they preach? Two years later, I can say confidently: yes. The team is talented, driven, and deeply invested in what they’re building — and that energy is contagious.

I also get to put my IT experience to real use here. My role gives me room to grow as a manager — I learn from the leaders around me constantly — while still getting hands-on with technical projects. That balance is rare, and it keeps the work interesting.

Which ID.me value or leadership principle resonates most with you, and why?

Ask questions like a five-year-old. Simple, but meaningful. We operate as one team — no gatekeeping of information or knowledge. Challenging the assumptions we hold is how we find common ground and move forward together. Curiosity, transparency, and clear communication is how work actually gets done.

It’s also how I try to show up as a manager. Creating space for honest questions — especially the ones people feel they should already know the answer to — is something I care about.

We’re grateful for Anna’s thoughtful perspective, dedication to ID.me’s mission, and the curiosity and collaboration she brings to her work every day. Her journey reflects the impact of building technology with purpose, creating solutions that help make digital identity more secure, accessible, and trusted for the people who rely on it.
